In this context, we present here the first exploratory findings of a research whose main objective is to recover the explicit and tacit links and intersections that postgraduate training and the university academic profession have from the framework that is configured between secondary information sources —university statistical data and indicators— and the biographical and professional narratives of the academics of the National University of Mar del Plata. The article that we share describes the links that are intertwined between said training and the local academic profession based on more than two thousand surveys conducted with teachers and researchers at the UNMdP and testimonies of academics who manage the postgraduate level in various academic units. The data collected and the classification variables achieved provide a powerful descriptive approach to the existing intersectional links between postgraduate training and the academic profession that opens the horizon to new debates and enables, in future inquiries, a greater qualitative deepening of the object. La profesión académica y la formación de posgrado, en tanto objetos de estudios de la educación superior, se encuentran en permanente expansión temática y metodológica. En este contexto, presentamos aquí los primeros hallazgos exploratorios de una investigación que tiene como objetivo principal recuperar las vinculaciones e intersecciones explícitas y tácitas que poseen la formación de posgrado y la profesión académica universitaria a partir del uso y tratamiento de fuentes de información secundarias —datos e indicadores estadísticos universitarios— y las propias narrativas autobiográficas y profesionales de los académicos de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. El artículo que compartimos describe los vínculos que se entrelazan entre dicha formación y la profesión académica local a partir de más de doscientas encuestas realizadas a docentes e investigadores de la UNMdP y testimonios de los académicos que gestionan el nivel de posgrado en diversas unidades académicas.
