Sumario:The purpose of the article is to problematize teaching work in public basic education in Brazil, in particular in the state of Minas Gerais, within the scope of the diffusion of informational-digital technologies or Industry 4.0 and neoliberal policies under the principles of New Public Management (NPM). The analysis falls on the profile of teachers, professional qualification, and working conditions, with special attention to the diffusion of remote teleworking under the Covid-19 pandemic. The methodology was based on bibliographic, documentary studies, research reports and data analysis from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), National Institute of Educational Studies and Research “Anísio Teixeira” (INEP), in selected periods. The results indicate the inseparability between neoliberal capitalism, NGP, and digital technologies, implying the deepening of the already precarious career of the teaching profession.
