Sumario:We share reflections produced by a didactic research team on the intellectual work that students do when producing non-textual representations to learn Natural Sciences. Within the framework of a didactic sequence designed by the research team to teach how the subject is constituted, seventh grade students carry out this type of productions in a public primary school in the City of Buenos Aires. We maintain that the process that is developed with the request for representations intervenes in the externalization of the ideas that students are building, collaborates with the mobilization and evolution of different conceptual aspects about the teaching object, contributing to the learning of the disciplinary contents that, from our perspective, it involves approaches to the concept of model in a specific domain of knowledge.
