Within the framework of a didactic sequence designed by the research team to teach how the subject is constituted, seventh grade students carry out this type of productions in a public primary school in the City of Buenos Aires. We maintain that the process that is developed with the request for representations intervenes in the externalization of the ideas that students are building, collaborates with the mobilization and evolution of different conceptual aspects about the teaching object, contributing to the learning of the disciplinary contents that, from our perspective, it involves approaches to the concept of model in a specific domain of knowledge. Compartimos reflexiones producidas por un equipo de investigación didáctica sobre el trabajo intelectual que realizan los alumnos al producir representaciones no textuales para aprender Ciencias Naturales. En el marco de una secuencia didáctica diseñada por el equipo de investigación para enseñar cómo está constituida la materia, alumnos de séptimo grado realizan este tipo de producciones en una escuela pública primaria de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
