It is approached from the fields of university publishing, critical pedagogies and critical extension, with a qualitative hermeneutical methodology and attending to the potentialities of reflection on academic management practices. The starting point is the search for the democratization of scientific knowledge from its triple aspect of access, production and publishing under the expanded assumption of the “right to university”. A description is made and then a conceptual approach of systematization, towards future lines of organization and editorial policy of the area. El presente artículo desarrolla la experiencia de la reciente creación de un “Área de Publicaciones de Extensión” en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Es abordada desde los campos de la edición universitaria, las pedagogías críticas y la extensión crítica, con una metodología cualitativa hermenéutica y atendiendo a las potencialidades de la reflexión sobre las prácticas de gestión académica. El punto de partida es la búsqueda de la democratización del conocimiento científico en su triple aspecto de acceso, producción y edición bajo el supuesto ampliado del “derecho a la universidad”.
