Sumario:The article characterizes and analyzes the production of specialized knowledge on secondary education, based on an open access repository called RIES Base, which gathers research on secondary education from 2003 to date. Based on a reflexive analysis of the processes involved in the creation of the database, and from systematized data, the article identifies the logics that characterize the field of research in education, starting from the consideration of secondary education as a consolidated topic in the field. The article concludes that the heterogeneity that characterizes the field is revealed in the intervention carried out by the RIES database in the community of researchers and experts. As a device, it intervenes by classifying the set of experts and researchers: the classificatory operation horizontalizes at the same epistemological level topics, approaches, disciplinary traditions, links between academia and social movements, which outside the Base do not have the same status of knowledge. Institutionalization is identified in the consolidation of secondary education as a subject in postgraduate training, which occurs in different institutional contexts.
