This paper reflects on schooling conditions provided by two types of experiences. First, experiences carried on in Buenos Aires City, and in two provinces (Buenos Aires and Córdoba), that make modifications on the organizational model and academic structure of the traditional secondary school. Due to the radical nature of their innovations, these institutions have managed to have a favorable impact on the target population, even if that impact is small in scale considering the problem they try to solve. Second, this paper discusses a nationwide policy geared to every secondary school in Argentina. While this plan has the potential to solve some historical problems in secondary school education, it faces the difficulties that come with large-scale implementation, due to specific configurations in each of the institutions, as well as the obstacles that the secondary school institutional model itself imposes on development.    La extensión de la obligatoriedad escolar en Argentina afronta las limitaciones que supone incorporar nuevos sectores a la escuela secundaria sobre la base de la expansión de un modelo institucional que ha presentado pocas variantes para generar condiciones suficientes para la retención. Este trabajo reflexiona sobre las condiciones de escolarización que ofrecen dos tipos de experiencias. Por un lado, tres iniciativas implementadas en la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, la Provincia de Buenos Aires y la Provincia de Córdoba, que plantean modificaciones en el modelo organizacional y el régimen académico de la escuela secundaria tradicional. Dado el carácter intensivo de sus innovaciones, estas iniciativas logran cierto impacto favorable en la población destinataria, aunque en pequeña escala en relación al problema que pretenden atender. Por otro lado, una iniciativa de carácter nacional, dirigida a todas las escuelas secundarias del país, que se presenta con la potencialidad de resolver algunos problemas históricos del nivel secundario, pero que encuentra dificultades propias de la implementación a gran escala, debido a las configuraciones particulares que adquiere en cada una de las instituciones y a los obstáculos que el modelo organizacional del nivel impone en su desarrollo.  application/pdf https://revistascientificas.filo.uba.ar/index.php/iice/article/view/1099 10.34096/riice.n33.1099 spa Subsecretaría de publicaciones.
