To do this, in-depth interviews are conducted with three officers and their visions are focused through discourse analysis. The stories show beliefs that, although they are based on the imaginary about community service, coincide in conceiving the profession as a job, especially since the police stopped belonging to the Policía Federal. This moment is “revealing” in the biographies because of their adherence to a group from which they felt expelled and because of the symbolic value they attribute to the institution to which they no longer belong. Este artículo analiza las narrativas sobre el trabajo y la vocación que moldean la subjetividad policial. Se trata de evidenciar las imágenes en torno a sí mismos y a los otros que construyen policías en servicio que pertenecían a la Policía Federal Argentina y fueron traspasados a la Policía de la Ciudad. Para ello, se realizan entrevistas en profundidad a tres agentes y se analizan sus visiones a través del análisis del discurso. Los relatos dan cuenta de creencias que, si bien se apoyan en el imaginario sobre el servicio a la comunidad, coinciden en concebir la profesión como un trabajo, sobre todo desde que los policías dejaron de pertenecer a la Policía Federal. Este momento resulta “revelador” en las biografías, por su adhesión a un grupo del que se sintieron expulsados y el valor simbólico que atribuyen a una institución a la que ya no pertenecen. Este artigo analisa as narrativas sobre trabalho e vocação com que se molda a subjetividade policial. O objetivo é evidenciar as imagens em torno de si e de outros que são construídas por policiais em serviço que pertenciam à Policía Federal Argentina e foram transferidos para a Policía de la Ciudad. Para isso, são realizadas entrevistas em profundidade com três policiais e suas visões são analisadas por meio da análise do discurso. As histórias mostram crenças que, embora elas estão baseadas no imaginário sobre o serviço comunitário, coincidem em conceber a profissão como um trabalho, especialmente desde que a polícia deixou de pertencer à Policía Federal.
