A partir del análisis de la gestión de la ciudad de San Pablo (Brasil) en el período 2017-2021, se postula como hipótesis que las metamorfosis urbanas, impuestas por las políticas públicas, aluden a la victoria de la opción del crecimiento sobre el desarrollo social, transformando radicalmente la vida urbana. En este momento de capitalismo financiero, la producción del espacio se revela como un componente del proceso de valorización. La gestión urbana centrada en los negocios se acompaña del discurso de la eficiencia desde el ámbito de lo privado contra aquel de lo público.
