description This article proposes an approach to a set of problems related to the field of Sound Art, understanding it as a field that is currently under construction and that generates deep ruptures in relation to the more consolidated forms of the aural arts, defining new modalities of production and location of the works as well as new and challenging spectatorial conditions. To this end, we start from a general problematization of its status, focusing on the heterogeneity and complexity of the field, as well as the diversity of its practices and the discourses that are formulated about them. On the other hand, the main traditions that define the dominant orientations within the field are circumscribed, emphasizing their most notable differences. From there, a more specific exploration of various dimensions of the phenomenon under study is proposed, examining its main qualities from a semiotic perspective, addressing the basic conditions in which the circulation of meaning unfolds and the ways in which a new aurality emerges. The conclusion is about the way in which the field is building its own historical and aesthetic accounts.

El presente artículo propone una aproximación a un conjunto de problemáticas relativas al campo del arte sonoro, un campo que se encuentra actualmente en construcción y que genera profundas rupturas en relación a las formas más consolidadas de las artes aurales y define nuevas modalidades de producción y de emplazamiento de las obras así como nuevas y desafiantes condiciones espectatoriales. A tales efectos, se parte de una problematización general acerca de su estatuto, poniendo foco en la heterogeneidad y complejidad del campo, así como en la diversidad de sus prácticas y de los discursos que se formulan acerca de las mismas. Por otra parte, se circunscriben las principales vertientes que definen sus orientaciones dominantes y se enfatizan sus diferencias más notorias. A partir de allí se propone una exploración más específica sobre diversas dimensiones del objeto de estudio, examinando sus principales cualidades desde una perspectiva semiótica, abordando las condiciones de base sobre las que se despliega la circulación del sentido y las vías por las que se da lugar a la emergencia de una nueva auralidad. Se concluye, finalmente, acerca del modo en que el campo va construyendo sus propios relatos históricos y estéticos. O presente artigo propõe uma aproximação sobre um conjunto de problemáticas relacionadas ao campo da arte sonora, entendendo-o como um campo que se encontra atualmente em construção e que gera profundas rupturas em relação às formas mais consolidadas das artes aurais, definindo novas modalidades de produção e localização das obras, bem como novas e desafiadoras condições espectatoriais. Para tanto, partimos de uma problematização geral sobre seu estatuto, enfocando a heterogeneidade e a complexidade do campo, bem como a diversidade de suas práticas e dos discursos que se formulam sobre elas. Por outro lado, são circunscritas as principais tradições que definem as orientações dominantes no campo, enfatizando suas diferenças mais notórias.
