description Abstract The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the debate on interculturality and its application in the so-called intercultural bilingual education (IBE) in Mexico. We focus on two emblems used by IBE that refer to a fixed conceptualization in the culture and language of the so-called indigenous communities to mark identities, and to certain approaches to bilingualism as a static view to understand multilingual realities. We propose an exercise of reflection based on our research on indigenous schooling processes in urban and migration contexts, and on indigenous youth in higher education, as well as on the accompaniment of indigenous community pedagogical models in the state of Oaxaca. The methodological perspective that guides the analysis is based on the anthropology of education that views the school as a political arena where the state relates to various social actors. Nos enfocamos en dos emblemas utilizados por la EIB que remiten a una conceptualización fija en la cultura y la lengua de las denominadas comunidades indígenas para marcar identidades y a ciertos enfoques sobre el bilingüismo como mirada estática para comprender realidades multilingües. Planteamos un ejercicio de reflexión a partir de nuestras investigaciones referidas a procesos de escolarización indígena en contextos urbanos y de migración, y jóvenes indígenas en educación superior, así como del acompañamiento a modelos pedagógicos comunitarios indígenas en el estado de Oaxaca. La perspectiva metodológica que orienta el análisis tiene como referente a la antropología de la educación que mira la escuela como arena política donde se relacionan el Estado con diversos actores sociales. Nos centramos em dois emblemas utilizados pela EIB que remetem a uma ideia fixa de cultura e de língua das denominadas comunidades indígenas para marcar identidades e a certos enfoques sobre o bilinguismo visto como algo estático para compreender realidades multilíngues. Propomos um exercício de reflexão baseado na nossa investigação sobre os processos de escolarização indígena em contextos urbanos e de migração, e sobre os jovens indígenas na na Educação Superior, assim como do acompanhamento de modelos pedagógicos comunitários indígenas no estado de Oaxaca.
