The data obtained from 33 questionnaires and 12 in-depth interviews are analyzed. The contributions to the humanization of history are mainly highlighted, also indicate that it favors the competences of empathy and interpretation, and the use of historiographic procedures improves the motivation which would allow to acquire significant historical learning. Oral history should be considered a powerful and enriching educational strategy. It puts people at the center of historical knowledge and claims the role of ordinary people. It favors critical interpretation which is one of the fundamental skills of historical thinking. It allows to make history in the classroom since it requires the application of historical research methods. In other words, it can become a learning activity that could form a historical experience for the students. El artículo analiza las representaciones sociales del profesorado de ciencias sociales de Cataluña en relación a los aportes de la historia oral para la educación histórica escolar. Para ello, se analizan los datos obtenidos de 33 cuestionarios y luego de 12 entrevistas en profundidad. Se mencionan principalmente los aportes para la humanización de la historia, pero también que favorece las competencias de la empatía y la interpretación, y que el uso de procedimientos historiográficos mejora la motivación, lo que permitiría adquirir aprendizajes históricos significativos. La historia oral debería ser considerada como una estrategia potente y de gran riqueza educativa. Pone en el centro del saber histórico a las personas y reivindica el protagonismo de la gente común. De igual manera, favorece la interpretación crítica, que es una de las habilidades fundamentales del pensamiento histórico. Además, permite hacer historia en el aula ya que requiere de la aplicación de métodos de investigación histórica. En otras palabras, puede constituirse como una actividad de aprendizaje para formar experiencia histórica en el alumnado.
