The successes and difficulties that arose from the conception of the same are underlined, exploring the path of urban, local and neighborhood history as a scenario of didactic reflection in social science classes, and as a strategy to address the problem of the formation of teaching staff at the post graduate level and its multiple impacts at the regional level. The experience developed showed that the approach was useful and relevant according to the interests of the educational institutions and the participating teachers. It has been tried that the deepening in the local histories realizes a critical distancing of the myths of the colonization, inviting to generate a greater inclusion of new actors and stories in the construction of the regional history. Similarly, a renewal speech has been promoted in the exercise of history. El presente artículo muestra la creación, desarrollo y resultados de una línea de investigación educativa dentro de la Maestría en Historia de la Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. Se subrayan los aciertos y dificultades que se presentaron desde la concepción de la misma, explorando el camino de la historia urbana, local y barrial como escenario de reflexión didáctica en las clases de ciencias sociales, y como estrategia para encarar el problema de la formación del profesorado a nivel de posgrado y sus múltiples impactos a nivel regional. La experiencia desarrollada mostró que el enfoque fue útil y pertinente de acuerdo con los intereses de las instituciones educativas y los docentes participantes. Se ha procurado que la profundización en las historias locales realice un distanciamiento crítico de los mitos de la colonización, invitando a generar una mayor inclusión de nuevos actores y relatos en la construcción de la historia regional. De igual modo, se ha promovido un discurso renovador en el ejercicio de la historia.
