This article reflects on the relations established between these discourses (established as credible) and their representations, and the beliefs and previous ideas of the spectators. We focus on the theoretical perspective of Eliseo Verón, added to the contributions of Social Psychology in respect to social identity, and the construction and functioning of social thought.To exemplify these concepts, a set of Argentine audiovisuals are analyzed taking into consideration three concepts (genre, technical images and the link between individual and social representations) that are understood as theoretical and operative instances for the development of analysis and reflection. El cine documental y los noticieros televisivos comparten una forma de mirar la realidad marcada por una particular relación con lo real. Ambos pertenecen a géneros caracterizados por presentar hechos, personajes, lugares,etc. que forman parte del mundohistórico. Este artículo reflexiona sobre las relaciones que se establecen entre estos discursos (instaurados como verosímiles) y sus representaciones, y las creencias e ideas previas de los espectadores. Para ello se toma la perspectiva teórica de Eliseo Verón, a la que se suman aportes provenientes de la Psicología Social respecto de la identidad social y la construcción y el funcionamiento del pensamiento social. Para ejemplificar esto se analiza un conjunto de audiovisuales argentinos (noticieros y filmes documentales) tomando como ejes tres conceptos (el género, las imágenes técnicas, y el vínculo entre representaciones individuales y sociales) que se entienden como instancias teóricas y operativas para el desarrollo del análisis y la reflexión.
