| Sumario: | Angélica Gorodischer's narrative depicts imaginaries of medicine which surely originated in her work as a librarian in a medical institution that she maintained until she retired. The presence of characters linked to health sciences is a constant throughout her work and adopts various configurations in her narrative. Especially her early texts exhibit associations between surgery and crime and between medicine and social control. However, it can also be noticed in this narrative a more playful and brazen treatment of the figure of the doctor that appeals to certain commonplaces of medicine both to recognize his actions and to parody them. In some cases, it is possible to associate certain characterizations of the medical profile with some nuances of the literary modality of nonsense that reveal the writer's acute reflections on medical work. |
