In a context where drones and robots can observe and record data on a scale incomparable to human abilities, and where artificial intelligence algorithms are capable of writing texts in milliseconds, the central question of this work arises: What is the value of written records, even today, for the discipline? In search of possible answers, it is argued that, far from being an anachronistic practice, the written record is reaffirmed as an indispensable instrument for Social Work. Unlike massive data, the record has a unique political and reflective character, capable of capturing singular realities and making visible the lives that, otherwise, could be overshadowed by the vertiginous advance of technology. El presente artículo se propone problematizar el registro escrito en Trabajo Social a la luz de la era exponencial en que vivimos. En un contexto en que drones y robots pueden observar y registrar datos a una escala incomparable con las habilidades humanas, y donde los algoritmos de inteligencia artificial son capaces de escribir textos en milésimas de segundos, surge la pregunta central de este trabajo: ¿cuál es el sentido que el registro escrito tiene, aún hoy, para la disciplina? En busca de respuestas posibles se plantea que, lejos de tratarse de una práctica anacrónica, el registro escrito se reafirma como instrumento indispensable para el Trabajo Social. A diferencia de los datos masivos, presenta un carácter político y reflexivo capaz de plasmar realidades singulares y vidas solapadas por el vertiginoso avance de la tecnología.
