The first study was carried out with young people from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in the country's capital based on Jörn Rüsen's perspective, and the second, with students from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH), in Chihuahua City, using Grounded Theory as the methodological approach. Among their main results, both studies identify three general trends: the future as the temporal dimension that receives the least attention; the prominence of the present to build an argument with a prospective view; and a pessimistic collective vision about the future. En este artículo se analizan los resultados de dos estudios que indagan la conciencia histórica en las juventudes universitarias en México. En concreto, se pretende comprender al estudiantado de la licenciatura en historia y su relación con el futuro. El primero de ellos se llevó a cabo con jóvenes de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) en la capital del país a partir de la perspectiva de Jörn Rüsen, y el segundo, con estudiantes de la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH), en Chihuahua capital para lo cual se empleó la Teoría fundamentada. Ambas investigaciones permiten identificar, entre sus principales resultados, tres tendencias generales: el futuro como el referente temporal que recibe menor atención, el protagonismo del presente para construir un argumento con prospectiva y una visión colectiva pesimista sobre el porvenir.
