Its influence within literary studies and criticism involves appropriation and discussion with the long-standing post-structuralist, discursive, and referential traditions in the social sciences and humanities, as well as analytical expansions that go beyond the constructionist consideration of discourse towards bodily zones. This is because emotions, feelings, and affects are established as bearers of knowledge and categories of analysis that establish alternative analytical operations and mechanisms: they dismantle binary structures of thought, essentialist modes of conceptualization, and delve into their relational, contingent, and indeterminate nature.
