The main objective of this study is to explore the ways in which literature confronts the convention of the unrepresentability of the sea. The methodological proposal combines two branches of comparatism: the study of the relationship between artistic languages, focused on ekphrasis, with that of the exchanges between national literatures, which takes Argentine literature as a starting point to establish critical relationships that are significant for the definition of strategies and poetics of representation. Las representaciones del mar que están presentes en el cuento «Una región perdida», de Bernardo Kordon, y las novelas Kanaka, de Juan Bautista Duizeide, y La costa ciega, de Carlos María Domínguez, definen la poética literaria mediante la reelaboración del lenguaje pictórico. El objetivo principal de este estudio es indagar en las formas en que la literatura confronta con la convención de la irrepresentabilidad del mar.
