Pantoea agglomerans is a gram-negative bacillus that belongs to Enterobacteriaceae family and it behaves as an opportunistic pathogen in immunocompromised patients. However, there are reports in the literature associating this microorganism with trauma infections with plant thorns and splinters in immunocompetent patients. The aim of this paper is to present two case reports in order to add evidence to the association of Pantoea agglomerans with skin and soft tissue infections and septic arthritis due to penetrating accidental traumas with plants in pediatrics. The strains were identified using the MALDI-TOF MS system. Antibiotic susceptibilities were evaluated using VITEK 2C system. We conclude that communication between the medical team and the laboratory is extremely important to guide the bacteriological search and prioritize the isolates. Los traumas penetrantes en niños son habituales pero no siempre evolucionan a entidades como artritis séptica o infecciones en piel y partes blandas. Pantoea agglomerans es un bacilo gram negativo que pertenece a la familia Enterobacteriaceae y se comporta como un patógeno oportunista en pacientes inmunodeprimidos. Sin embargo existen reportes en la literatura que asocian este microorganismo a infecciones por traumatismos con espinas de plantas y astillas en pacientes inmunocompetentes. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar dos casos clínicos para agregar evidencia a la asociación de Pantoea agglomerans con las infecciones en piel y partes blandas y artritis séptica por traumas accidentales penetrantes con plantas en pediatría. Las cepas fueron identificadas utilizando el sistema MALDI-TOF MS. Las susceptibilidades antibióticas fueron evaluadas con el sistema VITEK 2C.
