There are two determining facts in the organization of the mentioned semantic field: i) that these páthe are defined as those states through which men suffer an alteration that could change their judgments, and are accompanied by pain (lýpe) and pleasure (hedoné); ii) their definitions mostly include the word 'pain'. Este trabajo se propone presentar –al menos esquemáticamente– la conformación y el alcance del campo semántico "páthos", tal como aparece delineado en el libro II de la Retórica de Aristóteles. Dos datos son determinantes para la estructuración de dicho campo semántico: i) que estos páthe son definidos como aquellos estados a través de los cuales los hombres experimentan un cambio tal que alteran sus juicios, y van acompañados de dolor (lýpe) y placer (hedoné); ii) en la mayor parte de las definiciones se incluye el término 'dolor'.
