The genetic process of poetry issues from an oral communication between the Poet and the Muse, a way of communication that contributes to the compositive and structural design of Iliad as well of Odyssey in accordance with the function of memory and with the expansion of proper technic of the epic vocalization. El presente trabajo analiza los conceptos de μῦθος, ἔπος y canto en el campo de la épica homérica y parte de la hipótesis de considerarlos como conceptos que desarrollan una teoría poética sobre el ἔπος, en la que los aspectos "representacionales" o miméticos resultan esenciales. El proceso genético de la poesía surge inevitablemente de una comunicación oral entre poeta y musa, un modo de comunicación que conduce al diseño compositivo y estructural tanto de Ilíada como de Odisea acorde con el funcionamiento de la memoria y con la técnica de expansión propia de la vocalidad épica.
