They were transformed in Greece into feminine creatures, but maintained some affinity with their original meanings, such as protective gods of the dead. Nevertheless, their role was not only as deads' guardians, they also acquired erotical and passionate connotations. The beautiful semblance of the sphinx, the melodious voice of the siren, the seduction of the harpy, were the attractive aspects of their personalities that masqueraded danger and sexual violence. La rica iconografía mortuoria egipcia influyó sobre algunos temas míticos griegos; entre ellos la esfinge, la sirena y la arpía, cuyos orígenes fueron masculinos. En Grecia se transformaron en criaturas femeninas, conservando alguna afinidad con los significados iniciales, como el de divinidades protectoras de los muertos. Sin embargo, su papel no se redujo sólo a la tutela del difunto, adquirieron también connotaciones eróticas y apasionadas. El bello rostro de la esfinge, la melodiosa voz de la sirena, la seducción de la arpía, resultaban los aspectos atractivos de sus personalidades que escondían peligro y violencia sexual.
