Throughout the first half of the 20th century, the Malvinas issue was absent from primary school textbooks. This begins to change with the edition of the ‘Peronist’ manuals. Although these school materials were suppressed after the 1955 coup d'état, the Malvinas presence was not only maintained but also strengthened, which is why publishers began to allocate an increasingly important space to it in their proposals for the primary level and secondary during the 1960s and 1970s. This trend would receive its final boost when in 1973 the national government, through the sanction of Law 20,561, set June 10 as ‘Day of the Affirmation of Argentine Rights over the Malvinas and Malvinas Islands’ of the Antarctic Sector. El análisis de la construcción en el ámbito escolar de una causa nacional como Malvinas contribuye a reflexionar sobre el rol de la Historia escolar en la configuración de imaginarios nacionalistas. Durante toda la primera mitad del siglo XX la cuestión Malvinas se encuentra ausente en los textos escolares para el nivel primario. Esto comienza a cambiar con la edición de los manuales “peronistas”. Si bien luego del golpe de Estado de 1955 fueron suprimidos estos materiales escolares, la presencia de Malvinas no solo se mantuvo sino que se afianzó, por lo que las editoriales comenzaron a destinarle un espacio cada vez más importante en sus propuestas para el nivel primario y secundario durante las décadas de 1960 y 1970. Esta tendencia recibiría su impulso definitivo cuando en 1973 el gobierno nacional a través de la sanción de la ley 20.561 fijó el 10 de junio como “Día de la Afirmación de los Derechos Argentinos sobre las Malvinas e Islas del Sector Antártico”.
