Its objective is to analyze the research in architectural project attending to the similarities and differences with scientific research —through a comparative analytical method—, with the expectation of understanding and delimiting the particularities of our object of study. Three central questions structure this work: in what way is the field of research in architectural project comparable to the field of scientific research? In the type of research that interests us, how is the research problem constructed? And, finally, what is the role of the project and its techniques in the methodological approach of this type of research? The aspects initially treated at a theoretical level (around the type of knowledge involved in the research in architectural project, the construction of the research problem and the methodological strategies), are contrasted with two case studies —both in the Final Research Plan instance within the framework of the Master's Degree in Architectural Project at Buenos Aires' University. Este artículo presenta y problematiza el campo de la investigación en el marco de las maestrías en proyecto arquitectónico. Su objetivo es analizar la investigación en proyecto a la luz de las similitudes y diferencias respecto de la investigación científica —mediante un método analítico comparativo—, con la expectativa de comprender y delimitar las particularidades de nuestro objeto de estudio. Tres preguntas centrales estructuran este trabajo: ¿en qué medida el campo de la investigación en proyecto es homologable al campo de la investigación científica? ¿Cómo se construye un problema de investigación en proyecto? Y, finalmente, ¿cuál es el rol del proyecto y sus técnicas en el abordaje metodológico de este tipo de investigación? Los aspectos tratados inicialmente a nivel teórico (en torno al tipo de conocimiento implicado en la investigación en proyecto, a la construcción del problema de investigación y a las estrategias metodológicas) se contrastan con dos casos de estudio —ambos en instancia de Plan de Trabajo Final en el marco de la Maestría en Proyecto Arquitectónico de la Universidad de Buenos Aires.
