Flores, María Fernanda Deliberation Motivation Reasons Emotions Cognitivism Deliberación Motivación Razones Emociones Cognitivismo This work aims to analyze the phenomenon of motivation in deliberation, taking up the idea present in the article “Practical Reason and Motivations for Public Deliberation” (Vidiella, 2017) which maintains that classical deliberative theory presents a “motivational deficit”. Todo this I will focus on the transformation of opinions. I will take into account how opinions are conceived from the perspective of rationalism, introducing an alternative view that takes the emotional aspect as relevant. Then I will favor the possibility of transformation ofopinions, and finally I will refer to the idea that rationalism can even include the motivational aspect. Taking distance from Vidiella which refers to advances in moral psychology and studies on the cognitive role of emotions, I will mainly focus on the critiques to some assumptions of rationalism that propose to make certain conditions of deliberation more flexible.
