The studyadopts a qualitative approach, using documentary analysis and a narrative literaturereview. The EZLN is seen as an inspirational model for indigenous communities inLatin America, standing out as a response to the social exclusion and poverty imposedby capitalism. The analysis reveals that the movement denounces the historical impactsof colonization, in addition to promoting organized resistance and solidarity amongindigenous peoples in the struggle for justice, dignity and recognition. Este artículo examina la importancia del movimiento zapatista en la identidad indígena contemporánea en México, centrándose en el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN). La pregunta central es: ¿cómo ha contribuido el movimiento zapatista a fortalecer la resistencia y la lucha de los pueblos indígenas en México? El estudio adopta un enfoque cualitativo, utilizando el análisis documental y una revisión narrativa de la literatura. El EZLN se considera un modelo inspirador para las comunidades indígenas de América Latina, destacando como respuesta a la exclusión social y la pobreza impuestas por el capitalismo. El análisis revela que el movimiento denuncia los impactos históricos de la colonización, además de promover la resistencia organizada y la solidaridad entre los pueblos indígenas en la lucha por la justicia, la dignidad y el reconocimiento.
