At present, the process of internationalization is inscribed in a world scenario marked by globalization, making it difficult to think of a university that does not attend to these issues. In this new context, universities are taking on the task of internationalizing. This internationalization process has international cooperation as its instrument. When it comes to cooperation, universities encounter certain challenges, since cooperation, seen from a rationalist point of view, represents interests. Faced with this, university institutions must strengthen the "international management capacity" of their International Relations Offices by paying special attention to their domestic internationalization objectives. Las dinámicas de relacionamiento internacional entre universidades es un fenómeno que data de largos años a la vez que representa un fenómeno contemporáneo. En la actualidad el proceso de internacionalización se inscribe en un escenario mundial signado por la globalización, resultando difícil pensar en una universidad que no atienda a estas cuestiones. En este nuevo contexto las universidades se dan a la tarea de internacionalizarse. Este proceso de internacionalización tiene como instrumento a la cooperación internacional. Al momento de cooperar las universidades se encuentran con ciertos desafíos, ya que la cooperación, vista desde un punto de vista racionalista, representa intereses. Frente a ello, las instituciones universitarias deben fortalecer la “capacidad de gestión internacional” de sus Oficinas de Relaciones Internacionales colocando especial atención a sus objetivos domésticos de internacionalización.
