Uno de los aspectos de las lenguas en las que más claramente se identifican cambios es en el vocabulario. Todo el tiempo surgen palabras y expresiones nuevas y los hablantes somos sensibles a estas innovaciones. En este ensayo divulgativo nos centramos en las condiciones que determinan, por un lado, el surgimiento de nuevas expresiones y, por el otro, que algunas de ellas se queden para siempre mientras que otras permanezcan solo un rato y luego se vayan como vinieron.
