The idea isto rethink the intervention of the state by that political force in mattters of oil in the period 1916-1930, proposals and achievements. To do this the existing historiography existing, incorporating documentary source to which we had access, with the purpose of contributing other problems, in a local key, to nacional history. The work comprises three parts: first, it reflects on the sociopolitical thought of Hipólito Yrigoyen and the role of the state; secondlya series of considerations are made about of UCR, the TN and the importance of the resource. Finally, ideas and projects of the political force regarding the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in TN are presented. Although it is not part of the object of study, in comparative terms, references from the provinces that own the property are incorporated. El objetivo de la presentación es acercar algunas reflexiones sobre la UCR y la acción desplegada en materia de exploración y explotación de petróleo en territorios nacionales de la Patagonia argentina: Neuquén y Chubut. La idea es re pensar la intervención del Estado por parte de esa fuerza política en materia de petróleo en el período 1916-1930, propuestas y logros. Para ello se revisará la historiografía existente, incorporando fuentes documentales a las que se tuvo acceso, con el propósito de aportar otros problemas, en clave local, a la historia nacional. El trabajo comprende tres partes: en primer término, se reflexiona sobre el pensamiento sociopolítico de Hipólito Yrigoyen y el rol del Estado; en segundo término, se realiza una serie de consideraciones sobre la UCR, los TN y la importancia del recurso. Por último, se exponen ideas y proyectos de la fuerza política en materia de exploración y explotación del hidrocarburo en TN. Si bien no forma parte del objeto de estudio, en términos comparativos, se incorporan referencias de las provincias poseedoras del bien.
