Periphrastic (analytic or syntactic) causatives are biclausal constructions in which, in general, the causative verb is encoded in the main clause and the lexical verb occurs in the complement clause or in any other type of subordinate clause. In this paper, we study the periphrastic causative constructions in Mbayá-Eyiguayegui, Kadiwéu and Qomlé’k/Toba of Western Formosa, languages of the Guaicuruan family. In particular, we describe the synchronic use of simple factitive verbs as verbs of cause. In addition, we analyze, in each language and comparatively, the encoding density of the clauses that occur in periphrastic constructions and their types. In future works, the analysis of causative periphrastic constructions will be enhanced, in comparative perspective, with areally related languages.
