In this research, data was collected with LSP Deaf signers by using a list with names for Peruvian administrative territorial divisions, for instance names for Peruvian departments and capitals. Then, in order to determinate the diverse word-formation processes, an analysis of elicited data was carried out. The results show that processes involved in the creation of these signs can be divided into two groups: linguistic processes, for example, fingerspelling and compounding, and cognitive mechanisms, such as metonymy.
