Sumario:The objective of the article aims to bring some reflections on why radicalism, with a central role in the national political process, occupies a marginal space in the Neuquén political system. The thesis that is proposed is that this party in the subnational case and in the context of the bans and political instability in Argentina, emerges as an opposition force, urban-based, with little control of the territory and local expression. From the first years of Neuquén province, radicalism shows serious limitations to displace the MPN, a force that since the first years of provincialized Neuquén and Peronist base, concentrates electoral preferences. Due to its intra-party disputes, the control of the party from the central to the local level and the actions of the leaders, the UCR was losing territory and preferences among the inhabitants of Neuquén.
