The thesis that is proposed is that this party in the subnational case and in the context of the bans and political instability in Argentina, emerges as an opposition force, urban-based, with little control of the territory and local expression. From the first years of Neuquén province, radicalism shows serious limitations to displace the MPN, a force that since the first years of provincialized Neuquén and Peronist base, concentrates electoral preferences. Due to its intra-party disputes, the control of the party from the central to the local level and the actions of the leaders, the UCR was losing territory and preferences among the inhabitants of Neuquén. El objetivo del artículo apunta acercar algunas reflexiones sobre por qué el radicalismo con un papel central en el proceso político nacional, ocupa un espacio marginal en el sistema político neuquino. La tesis que se propone es que este partido en el caso subnacional y en el contexto de las proscripciones e inestabilidad política argentina, emerge como una fuerza de oposición, de base urbana, con escaso control del territorio y expresión local. Desde los primeros años del Neuquén provincia, el radicalismo muestra serias limitaciones para desplazar al MPN, fuerza que desde los primeros años del Neuquén provincializado y de base peronista, concentra las preferencias electorales. La UCR por sus disputas intrapartidarias, el control del partido desde el nivel central al local y el accionar de las dirigencias, fue perdiendo territorio y preferencias entre los habitantes neuquinos.
