The short duration of this provincial inter-union experience motivated our interest in investigating the causes of its emergence and dissolution and trying to contribute to the knowledge about the tendencies of unity and fragmentation of the syndicalism during the neoliberal transformations in Argentina. From a subnational perspective of political history, we seek to analyze how the process of transferring the Rio Negro’s pension system to the national State had an impact and what implication had in the actions and the (re) positioning of the state unions that motivated the dissolution of the FER. For this research we carried out an analysis of the content of the Río Negro newspaper (DRN), the oldest and most widely circulated newspaper in the North Patagonian region, and of the Official Gazette of the Province of Río Negro (BORN) and we deepened the investigation with a critical study of the oral testimony of provincial union leaders. En el contexto de la crisis y el inicio de las reformas del Estado en Río Negro, a mediados de la década de los noventa del siglo pasado, se conformó una organización intergremial que agrupó a los sindicatos de trabajadores estatales: el Frente Estatal Rionegrino (FER). La corta duración de esta experiencia intersindical de provincia motivó nuestro interés por indagar las causas de su emergencia y disolución, e intentar contribuir al conocimiento sobre las tendencias de unidad y fragmentación del campo sindical durante las transformaciones neoliberales en Argentina. Desde una óptica subnacional de la Historia política buscamos analizar cómo incidió y qué implicancia tuvo el proceso de transferencia del sistema previsional rionegrino al Estado nacional en las acciones y en los (re)posicionamientos de los sindicatos estatales que motivaron la disolución del FER. Para esta investigación realizamos un análisis del contenido del diario Río Negro (DRN), el periódico más antiguo y de mayor circulación de la región norpatagónica, y del Boletín Oficial de la Provincia de Río Negro (BORN) y profundizamos la indagación con un estudio crítico del testimonio oral de dirigentes sindicales provinciales.
