The bicentennial as a proper time for debates, balances and celebrations will be a privileged and excep-tional stage with a highly symbolic content suited to revise o simply strengthen the narratives about the origin of Argentine nationality. What is important is not so much what May 25 was as what it becomes in narrative terms. That is to say, if originality does not lay in the theme, this must be sought in the assump-tions which mould the forms of narrating and the reflections on that past. This paper aims at presenting some general outlines of the main contributions of the socalled narrativist philosophy of History, from Hayden White’s perspective, in order to reexamine the approaches to history teaching focusing on the analysis of narratives in relation to the bicentennial. Las conmemoraciones activan sentimientos que integran sentidos. Por lo tanto, las fechas públicas como impulsoras de espacios públicos de la palabra se convierten en objeto de disputas y conflictos, enmarcadas en las luchas políticas del presente. El bicentenario como ocasión que invita a debates, balances y celebraciones se constituirá en escenario privilegiado y excepcionalde gran contenido simbólico para revisar, o simplemente fortalecer las narrativas sobre el origen de la nacionalidad argentina. Noimporta tanto cómo fue el 25 de mayo, sino qué hacen narrativamente con él. O sea, si la originalidad no reside en el tema, éstadebe buscarse en los presupuestos que imprimen las formas de narrar y las reflexiones sobre aquel pasado. El siguiente trabajointenta desarrollar algunos esbozos generales sobre los aportes fundamentales de la denominada filosofía narrativista de la historia, desde Hayden White, para repensar las propuestas de enseñanza de la historia atendiendo el análisis de las narrativas entorno al bicentenario.
