| Sumario: | The article is part of an investigation conducted in the city of Neuquén in northern Patagonia, Argentina and accounts for some hallmarks of the disciplinary code of history (Fernandez Cuesta, 1997). It is a qualitative study which seeks to recover log-ical contexts and subjects to look into the practices of the teaching of history and recognizes the modality in the case study (Stake,1998). It explores the discourse of teachers who taught history in the city. Data were built in depth interviews with teachers and professors of history, survey and analysis of educational documents: Ministerial documents, curricula, school records and documents professorial. Triangulation of data was based on the interviews, the analytical categories that emerged from interviews also were also triangulated with educational documents produced by local education authorities and/or national documentation prepared by the teachers.
