It is a qualitative study which seeks to recover log-ical contexts and subjects to look into the practices of the teaching of history and recognizes the modality in the case study (Stake,1998). It explores the discourse of teachers who taught history in the city. Data were built in depth interviews with teachers and professors of history, survey and analysis of educational documents: Ministerial documents, curricula, school records and documents professorial. Triangulation of data was based on the interviews, the analytical categories that emerged from interviews also were also triangulated with educational documents produced by local education authorities and/or national documentation prepared by the teachers. Finally the whole information produced in the corpus was crossed in order to find permanence and change in history teaching Neuquén El artículo es parte de una investigación1 desarrollada en la ciudad de Neuquén en el norte de la Patagonia Argentina y da cuenta de algunas notas distintivas del código disciplinar de la historia (Cuesta Fernández, 1997). Es un estudio de carácter cualitativo que busca recuperar las lógicas de los contextos y de los sujetos para indagar en las prácticas de la enseñanza de la historia y reconoce la modalidad en el estudio en casos (Stake, 1998). Indaga en el discurso de profesoras y profesores que enseñaron historia en la ciudad. Los datos se construyeron a partir de entrevistas en profundidad2 y de relevar y analizar documentación educativa: documentos ministeriales, diseños curriculares, documentos escolares y documentos profesorales Se triangularon las categorías analíticas que emergen de las entrevistas con la documentación educativa producida por las autoridades educativas provinciales y/o nacionales y con la documentación elaborada por los profesores. Finalmente se trianguló la información producida en la totalidad del corpus a fin de encontrar permanencias y cambios en la evolución de la enseñanza de la historia neuquina (triangulación temporal).
