Among the objectives sought by the Board Inspector was to standardize teaching across the state as well as the education of women. Don Jose Ildefonso Díaz de León decided to give effect to the state capital in the foundation of a secondary education College campus inaugurated with the name "Guadalupe Josephite". Main School of San Luis Potosi Lancasteriana opened on May 20, 1843. Some of the work done in the nineteenth century by the Inspector of Primary Education Board of the State of San Luis Potosi and Potosi Lancasteriana Board outlined in this document. Al comenzar el Porfirismo, la instrucción pública en el Estado, por ley, se dividía en primaria y secundaria; estaba encomendada a la Junta Inspectora, con residencia en la capital, y a sus subordinadas, las Juntas Subalternas Municipales. Entre los objetivos que pretendía la Junta Inspectora era el de uniformar la enseñanza en todo el Estado, así como la educación de la mujer. Don José Ildefonso Díaz de León resolvió llevar a efecto en la capital del Estado la fundación de un Colegio de instrucción secundaria inaugurándose el plantel con el nombre de “Guadalupano Josefino”. La Escuela Principal Lancasteriana de San Luis Potosí fue inaugurada el 20 de mayo de 1843. Algunos de los trabajos realizados en el siglo XIX por la Junta Inspectora de Educación Primaria del Estado de San Luis Potosí y por la Junta Lancasteriana Potosina se reseñan en este documento.
