description AbstractThe teaching profession, influenced by ideological mandates at the interface between vocation and the feminine, develops in a context of demands and claims due to the advances in the field of gender theory and its impact on policies. From this perspective, we focus on one particular aspect of the normative coverage of teachers’ motherhood in the province of Catamarca, Argentina. The objective of this paper is to characterize the enactment of article 48 subsection b) of the Collective Labor Agreement of National University Teachers (CCTD), which contemplates postmaternity leave. To this end, we adopted a methodological approach that combines the theoretical perspective with a case study. The results reveal the way in which university teachers in the province of Catamarca value postmaternity leave, conceive their work and interpret the gender perspective.
