Sumario:This article is part of a larger investigation that aims to analyze the methods of construction of police news in the main newspapers of national circulation in Argentina during the period 1983-1989. Its objective is limited: to analyze the coverage that Clarín and Crónica newspapers made of the murder of three young people in the town of Ingeniero Budge, committed by three non-commissioned officers of the Buenos Aires Police, in May 1987. The results show that the case, which circulated publicly as the “Budge massacre”, produced a “turnaround” in the media narratives on institutional violence, established the “easy trigger” information series, while legitimizing the claim of subaltern sectors that questioned the methods of police repression in the province of Buenos Aires. To carry out the work, non-coincident theoretical-methodological perspectives were articulated: discourse analysis, news theory and the Framing Theory.
