This article is part of a larger investigation that aims to analyze the methods of construction of police news in the main newspapers of national circulation in Argentina during the period 1983-1989. Its objective is limited: to analyze the coverage that Clarín and Crónica newspapers made of the murder of three young people in the town of Ingeniero Budge, committed by three non-commissioned officers of the Buenos Aires Police, in May 1987. The results show that the case, which circulated publicly as the “Budge massacre”, produced a “turnaround” in the media narratives on institutional violence, established the “easy trigger” information series, while legitimizing the claim of subaltern sectors that questioned the methods of police repression in the province of Buenos Aires. To carry out the work, non-coincident theoretical-methodological perspectives were articulated: discourse analysis, news theory and the Framing Theory. El presente artículo se inscribe en una investigación de mayor envergadura que se propone analizar los modos de construcción de la noticia policial en los principales diarios de circulación nacional de Argentina durante el período 1983-1989. Su objetivo es acotado: analizar la cobertura que los diarios Clarín y Crónica realizaron del asesinato de tres jóvenes en la localidad de Ingeniero Budge, cometido por tres suboficiales de la Policía bonaerense, en mayo de 1987. Los resultados muestran que el caso, que circuló públicamente como la “masacre de Budge”, produjo un “viraje” en las narrativas mediáticas sobre la violencia institucional, estableció la serie informativa del “gatillo fácil”, a la vez que legitimó el reclamo de sectores subalternos que cuestionaban los métodos de represión policial en la provincia de Buenos Aires. Para realizar el trabajo se articularon perspectivas teórico-metodológicas no coincidentes: el análisis del discurso, la teoría de la noticia y la Framing Theory.
