The historical, political and academic relevance of the corpus in analysis and the vacancy of its in-depth approach, as well as its specificity as a journal and as an intellectual field of scientists of the sciences, present its study as a contribution to the field of university studies, the field of journals and periodicals studies, and studies on the thinking and history of science and technology. In this article we focus on some findings and definitions related to the journal itself, to the forma revista (Sarlo 1992), always relating text and context since journals are ´pregnant with context´, the context is in they; they receive it, elaborate it, interpret it, and also pretend to influence it. (Beigel 2003). In particular, we develop the characterization of Ciencia Nueva as a ´cultural, university and scientific politic journal, as well as its editorial team as ´militant scientific journalism´. La revista Ciencia Nueva (Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales -UBA, 1970-1974) contiene y plasma ciertos debates centrales –en particular las tensiones entre la autonomía y la planificación estatal de la universidad y la ciencia, y la discusión entre ciencia universal y ciencia nacional- en el devenir sociohistórico de Argentina y América Latina, protagonizados por ´científicos-intelectuales´ vinculados a la FCEN-UBA entre 1955 y 1974. Esta relevancia histórica, política y académica del corpus en análisis y la vacancia de su abordaje en profundidad, así como su especificidad como revista y como ámbito intelectual de científicos de las ciencias ´duras´, permite considerar su estudio como un aporte al campo de los estudios sobre universidad, los estudios sobre revistas y publicaciones periódicas, y los estudios sobre el pensamiento y la historia de la ciencia y la tecnología. En este artículo nos centramos en algunos hallazgos y definiciones relativos a la revista en sí misma, a la forma revista (Sarlo 1992), siempre poniendo en relación texto y contexto ya que las revistas están “preñadas de contexto”, el contexto se encuentra en ellas; ellas lo recepcionan, lo elaboran, lo interpretan, y también pretenden incidir en él (Beigel 2003). En particular, desarrollamos la caracterización de Ciencia Nueva como ´revista cultural, universitaria y de política científica´, así como la de su equipo editorial como ´periodismo científico militante´.
