description En el presente artículo argumentamos que la promesa de plenitud que sostiene la reproducción de la vida comunitaria chubutense, pasa también por la pretensión utópica de administrar el tiempo y el espacio de forma tal que cada sujeto (o territorio) ocupe el lugar que le corresponde según su capacidad. Esto hace a una distribución de lugares sociales marcada por el tiempo del trabajo monoproductivo del petróleo y la necesidad de tiempo “libre” para dedicar a la política, y por la distinción entre el sur de la provincia (la cuenca del Golfo San Jorge) y el norte (el Valle del río Chubut). En nuestro trabajo rastrearemos estos procesos en momentos del nacimiento del sistema político chubutense, luego de la provincialización en 1957. Específicamente, prestaremos atención a la instancia de debate y redacción de la Constitución Provincial como un momento re-fundacional donde la asignación de esos espacios diferenciales se pone en juego. La discusión en torno al destino de la capital de la provincia resultará clave para el análisis de los elementos que sobredeterminan los argumentos técnicos del armado institucional. ABSTRACTIn this article we argue that a utopian promise of fullness holds the communitarian life of the Chubut Province. It does so managing time and space, distributing social places, and giving the subjects a place in the community according to their capacities. This adds to a particularity in Chubut, since community life in the south of the province is strongly influenced by the tempo of the oil industry work and the difficulties for having time for politics outside the working place. This means that there is a considerable difference between the south (San Jorge Gulf Basin) and the north (Chubut River Valley), being the later the space of politics and the former the place for work. We will focus on the discussion of the provincial constitutional assembly as the moment that captures the regional differences as political identities. In particular, we will draw attention to the dispute over the place where the provincial capital would be located.
