description In this paper we will try to show that it is necessary for psychopedagogy -as for any other discipline in which there areinterventions on patients/individuals- an epistemological reflectionfrom where professional interventions are done. In fact, institutionsmust realize about the need of counting on epistemological profilesto carry on their interventions according to current legislations. Inthis sense, we will show some discussions that, we think, shouldappear in a near future. Firstly, we do some general considerationsabout how important it is for institutions to know theepistemological profiles they addopt to guide professionals withinwork teams. Then, and this is crucial, we show that, in a nearfuture, teaching different epistemological perspectives in gradelevel could be trascendent, because new professionals would beaware of their particular profile, and they could be able to addaptit to institutions, whether for working or to direct them. Making acontrast, psychology in general, an psychoanalyisis in particular,have achieved epistemological discussions for their discipline andprofession, concepts, intervention methods, objectives of theirtreatments, etc. All this has allowed them to get a high status andhelped them to avoid being absorbed by positivism that ruled whenthey firstly appeared. In the same way, psychopedagogues’professional practices should count on epistemologicaldevelopments to rely on; this would justify for psychopedagogicaldiscipline an status that could allow it to get an important rolewithin institutions, so that it could avoid being replaced by otherdisciplines with a high status previously achieved, such as is thecase of psychology and psychoanalysis. To close this paper, by threebrief conclusions, we will try to indicate the importance ofincluding epistemological reflections on grade level of the carrer ofpsychopedagogy. Just by this way, future professionals would becapable of knowing that institutions in which they will work, orwhich they will direct, move on epistemological grounds which areworth knowing.
