Despite the relevance of these topics, the literature that examines digital transformation from the point of view of GAI is scarce. Consequently, the research question "how to effectively integrate GAI into an organization" is posed, and the general objective of this research is to review the literature that explains the resources, capabilities and strategies to respond to the opportunities that emerge from GAI. A socio-technical systems perspective was adopted to structure the review covering internal and external organizational elements. Key findings are consistent with the premise that cross-dimensional alignment—people, goals, processes, culture, technology, infrastructure, stakeholders and regulation—is essential to capture GAI’s benefits. Organizations that privilege the technical subsystem (e.g., rapid deployment of large language models) without investing in social subsystems (e.g., leadership, employee training, stakeholder dialogue) risk effective value creation. Despite increasing recognition of productivity gains, financial impacts such as return on investment and total cost of ownership remain underexplored. The review identifies research needs on step-by-step integration strategies, financial risk assessment, and context-sensitive guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises. 2025-11-25T16:25:27Z 2025-11-25T16:25:27Z 2025-12 https://repositoriodigital.uns.edu.ar/handle/123456789/7353 eng application/pdf application/pdf Elsevier
