Sumario:The present work integrates a study proposal that is being developed in the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais that undertakes to detect traces of classical presence in Brazilian literature, trying to perceive if there is a pattern in the appropriation of these elements. As hypothesis, we start from the idea that Brazilian literature, seeking to free itself from the colonization idea, takes the Greek?Latin values and themes in a non-obvious way, adapting them to the national reality, forming something unique for the reading of myths, structures and reasons of Hellenic and Roman literature. We call that cultural translation and we build this idea articulating Walter Benjamin's (Castello Branco, 2008) proposals about translation to Julie Sander?s (2006) appropriation and adaptation sketches. As an exercise, we propose, in this paper, the analysis of two Mario Faustino's poems: Agonistes and Divisamos assim o adolescente. This exercise is, we believe, a good opportunity for us to perceive some of the possibilities of the indicated approach
