The acquisition of tadpoles of this leptodactylid frog provides further evidence of the probable ancient relationships of the genus, having in mind its similarity with genus Heleophryne from the South-African coast range. / Reminiscent Gondwanian features of both genera such as relictic leptodactylid stocks were pointed out. Comparative remarks on the mountain-stream adapted tadpoles of Heleophryne, Telmatobufo and Thoropa were carried out and discussed.
