description |
Liolaemus elongates and L. kriegi stress a noticeable amount of common serie antigens by means of the crossed precipitóle tests. Serological relationships support the morphological affinities of these lizards pointed out formerly (1939) by Müller and Hellmich. Populational variation of the sero-proteins is very ample in both species-groups, and a true super-specific feature of the elongat/us and kriegi complex may be emphasized. The largest serological distance observed in the elongatus group lies between the typical form and elongatus petrophilus from Somuncurii (Rio Negro). On the contrary, a strong serological affinity may be supported between elongatus elongatus from Neuquén and the andean populations from Paramillo de Uspallata (Mendoza). A very low percentage of common antigens exists between elongatus kriegi and jilzingeri-kingi, but also between fitzingeri and kingi. All the above mentioned forms stress a general serological affinity toward L. rothi. The probable intermediate phyletic position of this lizard may be discussed. |
