description This is a study realized in «laguna» Chascomús (a body of water homologuized with a lake of third order), in the Buenos Aires Province, Argentine Republic, by a group of advanced students under the direction of the Chief of the limnological investigations of this state. The population of the characinid fish <i>Acestrorhamphus jenynsi</i> is calculated by marking with a special thread and aplying the Schnabel's method. The population of other 11 fish species is also calculated based on proportions of capture. Finally the composition of population of the silverside or "pejerrey" (<i>Basilichthys bonariensis</i>) and his biomass is analized.
